CSV to JSON with Headers
This is the most common CSV → JSON shape: the first row becomes the keys and every following row becomes an object. Pick “Is the header (keys)” below and paste your CSV.

What “with headers” means
When you convert CSV to JSON with headers, the first row of the file is treated as the key names, and each subsequent row becomes a JSON object. For a file like:
name,age,city
Ada,36,London
Grace,45,New York the output is:
[
{ "name": "Ada", "age": "36", "city": "London" },
{ "name": "Grace", "age": "45", "city": "New York" }
] Headers vs. no headers
- First row is the header — output is an array of objects keyed by column names. Use this when your CSV has a header row.
- No header — output is an array of arrays, keeping every row as data. Use this for headerless exports.
Tips
- Keep header names unique and non-empty; blank headers become
column_1,column_2, … - Spaces around header names are trimmed automatically.
- Values stay as strings — cast to numbers in your code where it matters.
Working with data every day?
If you move data between tools regularly, these automate the parts this converter can't:
- Zapier — connect the apps your data lives in
- Airtable — a spreadsheet-database for teamwork
- Coefficient — sync live data into Google Sheets & Excel
